4.2.1. Bravery Test.
4.2.1.1. A 1d10 will be thrown against a Unit's Bravery Value.
4.2.1.2. Units' Bravery Values.
4.2.1.2.1. An Infantry or Artillery Unit's Bravery = Drill + Experience + Morale.
4.2.1.2.2. A Cavalry Unit's Bravery = Experience + Morale + Horse Size (HS).
4.2.1.3. Constant improving Modifiers.
4.2.1.3.1. The presence of a Flag (King's Color) - reduces (improves) the dice score by one (-1).
4.2.1.3.2. The presence of a joined General(s) in ranks of Unit - reduces (improves) the dice score by the General's best Initiative Value (-Morale).
4.2.1.3.3. The presence of a "Ardor" marker - reduces (improves) the dice score by one (-1).
4.2.1.3.4. Infantry in Deep Formation (in Battle Column or another Unit right behind the Battle Line, closer than 1 BD) - reduces (improves) the dice score by one (-1).
4.2.1.4. Improving Modifiers for standing/defending troops.
4.2.1.4.1. Protected position (Landscape or Buildings) - reduces (improves) the dice score by (-Pr). (Not used after first Melee.)
4.2.1.4.2. Square contra cavalry - reduces (improves) the dice score by (-3).
4.2.1.4.3. Garrisoned Unit - reduces (improves) the dice score by (-3).
4.2.1.5. Improving Modifiers for defenders against Frontal Charge.
4.2.1.5.1. Every protected Flank - reduces (improves) the dice score by one (-1).
4.2.1.5.1.1. Protected Flank means, that there are friendy Units, Buildings or blocking landscape in contact with Unit's Flank.
4.2.1.5.2. Higher position, compared to Attacker - reduces (improves) the dice score by (-Amount of Contours).
4.2.1.6. Improving Modifier for Charging Cuirassieurs.
4.2.1.6.1. Charging Cavalry have Cuirasses - reduces (improves) the dice score by one (-1).
4.2.1.7. Worsening modifiers for defenders against Charge.
4.2.1.7.1. Charge from Flank or Behind - increases (worsens) the dice score by two (+2).
4.2.1.7.2. Every Charge from more than one direction - increases (worsens) the dice score by one (+1).
4.2.1.7.3. In case of frontal Charge, every unprotected Flank, if enemy threated these by its wider Front - increases (worsens) the dice score by one (+1).
4.2.1.7.3.1. Unprotected Flank means, that there are no friendy Units, Buildings or blocking landscape in contact with Unit's Flank.
4.2.1.7.4. Lower position, compared to Attacker - increases (worsens) the dice score by (+Amount of Contours).
4.2.1.7.5. Defender is Cavalry - increases (worsens) the dice score by one (+1).
4.2.1.8. Worsening modifiers for Charging troops.
4.2.1.8.1. Defender's position Proctection - increases (worsens) the dice score by (+Pr).
4.2.1.8.2. Charge in Maneuvre/Road Column - increases (worsens) the dice score by one (+1).
4.2.1.8.3. A Suicidal Attack (against enemy with 3 times more Officers in opposing Units) - increases (worsens) the dice score by two (+2).
4.2.1.9. The modified dice score must be less than or equal to the Unit's Bravery Value to pass the Bravery Test.
